Chalchuapa - Fantasmas 93-110 Rather expected game when 10th ranked Chalchuapa (1-10) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Fantasmas (4-6) 110-93. Fantasmas forced 19 Chalchuapa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-1987) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American JaCarre Crockett (192-1996, college: Philander Smith) supported him with 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) did not help to save the game for Chalchuapa. His fellow American import Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fantasmas maintains seventh position with 4-6 record. Chalchuapa lost third consecutive game. Dominican forward Cristian Joan Duran (201-1996, college: Tenn Tech) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) supported him with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 13 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks by guard Bryan Garcia (168-1997) did not help to save the game for Aguila. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-1988) added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Salvador have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record, which they share with Metapan. Aguila at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 34. They outrebounded Santa Ana 58-46 including 44 on the defensive glass. Brujos players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 16 blocks. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) supported him with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 5 rebounds by Irving Sandoval (180-1988) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brujos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-4 record. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the sixth place with six games lost. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Cojute's players. American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 29 rebounds to lead the effort and American Xavier Eaglin (201-1997, college: PVAMU) supported him with 21 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Eaglin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Venezuelan point guard Edwin Mijares (186-1992) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 20 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Eddie Ishman (197-1986, college: Miles) chipped in 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest.
